Phil Lassiter: An Evening of Jazz and Conversation

Phil Lassiter is a noted American trumpet and flugelhorn player, composer, and arranger who has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry. He has performed on over 400 recordings and has been a sideman for artists such as Ray Charles, Lionel Richie, and Michael Jackson. Lassiter has also worked as a studio musician, arranger, and producer for film and television.

Lassiter was born in North Carolina and began playing the trumpet at the age of eight. He went on to study at the Berklee College of Music and the New England Conservatory of Music. After graduation, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music.

Lassiter has recorded with a wide variety of artists, including Diana Ross, Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, and Elton John. He has also worked on the soundtracks for films such as The Lion King, Jurassic Park, and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.

Lassiter is an active member of the Los Angeles music community and is a faculty member at the Colburn School of Music. He has also served as an adjudicator for the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Trumpet Competition.

Lassiter will be performing at the Hollywood Bowl on September 8, 2018.
