Nick Lowe is a British singer, songwriter, and record producer. An important figure in pub rock, punk, power pop, and new wave, Lowe has recorded a number of well-received albums. With his backing band Rockpile, he recorded the 1979 album Labour of Lust, which included the hit single «Cruel to Be Kind.» Lowe also produced Elvis Costello’s debut album, My Aim Is True, and later produced Costello’s Armed Forces. He has collaborated with Costello, Paul McCartney, Graham Parker, Johnny Cash, and John Hiatt, among others.
Lowe was born in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey. He began his career in 1967, when he joined the pub rock group Brinsley Schwarz. In 1974, he formed the band Rockpile with Dave Edmunds. The band recorded the album Labour of Lust in 1979.
Lowe has been married twice. His first wife was Carlene Carter, with whom he had a son, Roy. His second wife is Peta Waddington, with whom he has two daughters, Rose and Lily.
Lowe is currently on tour in Europe. He will be performing in Finland, Norway, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
